Richard Stamper, President & CEO
Equal parts innovator and doer, visionary and realist, team player and driven leader, golf brand builder and club assembly line builder, Richard Stamper is basically the Swiss Army Knife of corporate leaders.
These strengths, coupled with a BS in Computer Technology and a Harvard MBA, are why the DV8 Sports LLC President and CEO fits seamlessly with other members of the management team, employees, customers and investors.
Rich also brings proven global leadership, as well as financial acumen and new product development experience to DV8 Sports.
Prior to joining DV8 Sports, Rich was President and COO of Skyhawke Technologies, LLC, the parent company to Sky Golf and SkyCaddie, the #1 rangefinder in golf. There he led global expansion in Japan, China and Europe, as well as product/technology diversification including Swing Labs, the industry’s only unbiased club-fitting software solution, and PocketPro, a revolutionary swing analysis device.
As President of Srixon USA, with limited marketing and advertising budgets, Rich led the brand launch in the US, taking brand awareness from a mere 1% to 70% in just 6 years (Nike brand awareness was at 80% with Tiger on staff). At the same time, generating $30 million in new revenue and $10 million in profit.
While Vice President, Operations (Europe) for Callaway Golf, he managed all non-sales functions including Finance/Accounting, HR, Manufacturing, Distribution and Customer Serivice for the $125 million European headquarters with 180 employees.
Other experience includes general manager duties for the German and Asian subsidiaries of Moog, Inc,, Planning Director of Cooper Industries and Engineering Team Leader/Design Engineer with Cummins Engine.
All of which is why Rich is as knowledgeable and skilled behind a drill press as he is in front of customers, board member and investors.
Don Akerberg, Chairman
Innovation and success are no strangers to Don Akerberg. He has a rare balance of left and right brain that allows him to both embrace the newly discovered and market it through solid business acumen and insightful leadership.
As Chairman of DV8 Sports™, Don has integrated his passion for golf with Pat Brady’s technical prowess to launch DV8 Sports™. In addition to two other successful products in other industries.
He’s also served as President & CEO of Easy Run, a telecommunications company, and as President of three companies within Marmon Holding Company. Don and Pat Brady also started Teledata Solutions, which revolutionized call routing and telephony customer service and later went public as Apropos Technology.
He’s also been a Consultant, then General Manager for US West Regional Bell Operating Company. and later, VP of US West/North Eastern Region. Other ventures include Owner & President of Small Business Computers, Director of Data Services for a division of RCA, VP of Sales Marketing for Syntonic/Control Data Corporation and in Marketing Development of Proposals and Sales with RCA Service Company.
Don’s career began at Cape Canaveral, in Tech Operations for RCA, where he was responsible for Maintenance of Missile and Space Instrumentation and of tracking missiles, satellites and nose cones. He later tracked astronauts in space and served as Instrumentation Manager of personnel and electronic space tracking facilities, South Atlantic Ocean.
A tracking capability that undoubtedly also explains why he doesn’t lose many golf balls.
Charles McLendon, Vice President of Business Development
VP of Business Development, Charles McLendon identifies and develops sales channels and supports product development efforts for DV8 Sports. A lifelong golfer, Charles uses his past experience as an accomplished player, teacher, and golf business owner to provide insight and expertise to DV8.
At Golf Academy of America he studied complex facility operations and management along with professional instruction. His unique skill set has led him to consult for the advisory boards of several top equipment manufacturing companies due to his specialty in golf technology application.
Charles created and managed several industry changing teaching and club fitting businesses. Most notable were: The Golf Club Fitting Center at Reynolds Plantation, TaylorMade Performance Labs, and TaylorMade Tour Experience. He is recognized by his peers and national golf media as a leader within the golf industry for innovation of programs and technologies that help golfers reach their full potential.
Charles was elected to PGA membership and holds the elite status of Master Club Maker from the GCA. Due to his involvement helping to commercialize the MATT system for TaylorMade, he has analyzed and even taught many of the game’s best players. Top college golf programs utilized Charles to evaluate players and then develop programs for their player’s improvement.
Charles feels that his contributions to the game of game have mainly focused on the accomplished player to date. He is passionate about applying his insights to help grow the mass appeal for golf by encouraging new players into the game and keeping them engaged by helping them achieve success while overcoming obstacles to golf being a larger part of their lifestyle.
Pat Brady, Chief Technical Officer
Pat Brady is more than a driven inventor and highly accomplished engineer. He’s a driven problem solver and an experienced executive with a strong technology background, specializing in early stage technology and startups. Witness his 13 US patents, 6 pending US patents and having founded and led multiple highly successful companies.
Pat has not only invented and financed the creation of productions ranging from DV8 Sports™ and a locally produce-able cart for bicycles in Africa to the detection of emotion in speech, in collaboration with Voiceprism, Inc. He’s also leading an effort that’s on the forefront of energy harvesting from nanoantenna technology.
In 2004, Pat helped found Juna Amagara Ministries to help AIDS orphans in Uganda, an organization currently operating three schools helping over 350 students and serving the physical needs of over 125 orphans.
In 1993, he and Don Akerberg started Teledata Solutions, which later went public as Apropos Technology and revolutionized call routing and telephony customer service. Apropos was purchased by ENG Systemhouse, Inc. in 2006. Pat’s also served as a consultant to Motorola Cellular, after beginning his career and earning several patents while at Bell Laboratories.
